Fame5a READY READY READY!!!!!   What's really good people?!  Can you believe how fast the time is flying by?  Summer is just about here.  Seems like only yesterday is was cold and freezing outside.  Now that I think about it, it was only yesterday that it was cold and freezing outside!  So much is going on in the business that it has been hard to keep up, but I feel damn near compelled to share things with ya'll in this forum of a column.  So since we don't have much time to spend together, I will use this entry of The Fortune 5ive to share some random thoughts.

Notables on the Scene: Brian the Bachelor

Kif_1721_3Many of you that go out or look at these pictures may see some of the same faces time and time again.  I'm sure some of you may wonder exactly who are these people and what do they do so that they're partying all the time?  And what do I need to do so I can party like a rockstar at all times?  So we've created the column, Notables on the Scene to shed some light on the subject.  From time to time, we will spotlight folks on the scene to learn a bit more about them.  So without further a due, we present Brian the Bachelor.

Fame's Fortune 5 of 2005

Fame2Happy Holidays.....Christmas, New Year's, MLK Day, Presidents Day, ALL OF THEM! :)  I started writing this on February 2nd, 2006, and was constantly distracted.  I am embarrassed to say that this entry was completed on March 6, 2006.  At least  its finished.

Boy I tell ya! Its been a long time since I've been able to sit down and put my column together.  I've missed being able to communicate with you in this forum.  So much has happened, but I hope and pray that all is well with you, the reader of The Fortune Five.  A lot of people have told me that they've read the past entries, and I'm happy to report that the response has been positive.  So much so that in a short period of time, I will be doing write-ups of DJ's, promoters, up-and-coming artists and anyone of interest in this business we call music.  Let me again say this: THIS COLUMN IS NOT POLITICALLY INFLUENCED!  Talent recognizes talent, and good people recognizes good people and there are a few good people in this game.  Stay tuned.

I had originally intended to give a list of the top 10 events that I hosted in 2005.  But due to the fact that this is now the middle of February, it would be smart to cut that list in half to 5.  Let's take a stroll back to last year...it was only six weeks ago.

Women In Nightlife A Multi-Part Series: Tammy Ford

TAMMY FORD Tammy2_1
TAMMY FORD AGENCY
PRESIDENT AND CEO

They say beauty has its advantages. Former model and entrepreneur, Tammy Ford, epitomizes this adage with poise and purpose. Though many may remember Tammy as one of New York City’s premier promoters, most are not aware that she got into the game sort of haphazardly.

After a successful 8-year modeling career with Elite Model Management, she became a manager for a downtown restaurant, Match, where then-popular promoters Cordell and Everton, would often host parties. And since a party isn’t a party without the beautiful people, it was logic and good business sense that these same promoters would ask Tammy if she would grace their parties with her presence - and bring some of her beautiful model girlfriends along with her. School officially started, and for the next year, Tammy would host these Match events with the intent on learning everything there was on what being a promoter was all about.

Your Houston 2006 NBA All-Star Weekend Party Guide

With All-Star Weekend 2006 in Houston fast approaching us, I’ve been getting quite a few requests to find out what parties are going on out there.  During this weekend, there are 1,001 parties going on starting Wednesday and running through Sunday.  For those whom this will be their first All-Star Weekend will soon find out that rational thinking goes out the window this weekend.  You’ll see what I’m referring to when you show up at a party without an advance ticket and learn the door charge for some of the better parties will be $200 and up.  A word to the wise for you partygoers, buy advance tickets and arrive early.  I’m talkin’ like 9PM.  For some parties you will not be able to roll up at 1AM talking about 'I have a ticket'.  Some of these spots will be at or near capacity and the police will deny you entrance much less the event producers.  I know for some of you it’s hard to make a commitment to purchase a ticket before you actually get there because, who knows what can happen once you get there?  You can be at the hotel and hear about a slew of other events that can be better than the event you bought advance tickets for.  You will be beat in the head with party flyers as soon as you step off the plane…’This ballers gonna here, This rapper’s gonna there, This video hoe’s gonna be naked yonder….It goes on and on.  But let’s be real, all of these parties can’t be poppin’.  So I decided to help you fish through all the clutter and give you a list of events I think will be worth while and some advance ticket info.

A Truely Sexy Party and A State of Emergency

It’s been ages folks, I know. I don’t need to be reminded. There’s a ton of things I wanted to write about, but just didn’t get a chance to do so. These articles are quite time consuming and I just don’t have the time to do it. If you see my last article around Labor Day, (see Where Should I Go This Weekend) I didn’t get a chance to put all the links to names, places etc. within the article. After a few weeks go by, there’s so much to write about, I don’t look forward to doing it anymore. So with this said, my resolution will be to write more frequently but very shorter entries.
