We’re proud to announce the launch of our new site Scenestr.com. For those of you who have been wondering why I haven’t written an entry in quite some time, this is the reason why. Hurricane Katrina: A Call to Action this Weekend by Fame Fortune

fame.jpg
If you've been to any of the events that I host, you know that I was the first person on the mic to tell crowds to "represent your family from down south". Right now, we need to do more than just put our hands in the air. Hurricane Katrina has done an enormous and unimaginable amount of damage to the city of New Orleans and the states of Mississippi and Alabama. There's no way my conscience would've allowed me to host events this weekend knowing that 1,000 miles south of us there are people, OUR PEOPLE, suffering as a result of a natural disaster. I hope and pray that some of you may feel the same way. IT'S TIME TO "BE GROWN" NYC, so before we get into our Labor Day Weekend celebrations, let's not ignore the challenges that lie ahead for the people of that region. It may be your family, or your friend's family but I'm sure somebody knows someone down in that area, and they need OUR help.

Can the real Kenny McAlister please stand up?

Birthday boy Kenny McAlister, a cool brother from DC I met 5 years ago on a trip to Howard home coming weekend where him and his partners, Direct Impulse Lifestyle Marketing, pulled of a showcase for a true R&B artist, Jaime Hawkins. Now as the fashion and lifestyle editor at "Rolling Stone Magazine":http://www.rollingstone.com/, he still does parties but just a little sexier. Ken's friends, who range from fashion (Dao-yi Chow of Sean John) to music (John Monopoly, Kanye West's manager), all dropped in to wish him well at his new weekly friday night party at Canal Room (West Broadway and Canal).

Reverend Sharpton Recommends no airplay for Rappers Associated with Violence

According to Reverend Al, bq. There's a difference in the having the right to express yourself and in engaging in violence and using the violence to hype record sales, and then polluting young Americans that this is the key to success, by gunslinging and shooting. The rap game always seemed that way but the degree to which rappers are willing to go has definately increased.
